For the Neuronal Oscillations Group website

This accessibility statement applies to the Neuronal Oscillations Group website at https://noggin.pdn.cam.ac.uk/, run by the Neuronal Oscillations Group, Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, University of Cambridge.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to the website using a screen reader

We have also tried to make the text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • the data shown in some research figures (graphs, recordings and microscope images) is only available as an image
  • Ole Paulsen's CV is a PDF that is not tagged for screen readers
  • we have not yet tested the site with screen readers or speech recognition software

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The Neuronal Oscillations Group is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some research pages include scientific figures such as graphs, electrophysiological recordings and microscope images. Each has a short text description taken from its caption, but the data the figure shows is not available in text form. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 Non-text content.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

  • Ole Paulsen's CV is a PDF published in 2011 and is not tagged for screen readers. PDFs and other documents published before 23 September 2018 are exempt from the accessibility regulations where they are not essential to providing a service.
  • Pages link to websites run by others, such as PubMed and journal publishers. We do not control those sites and they are not covered by this statement.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

  • Test the site with a screen reader and with speech recognition software.
  • Add text descriptions of the data in research figures as the research pages are revised.
  • Replace the 2011 CV with an accessible document when it is next updated.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 24 September 2026. It was last reviewed on 7 October 2026.

This website was last tested on 7 October 2026 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. Testing was carried out by the Neuronal Oscillations Group. Every page was checked automatically for page language, page titles, heading structure, text alternatives for images, link names and broken links, and text colour contrast was checked against the WCAG thresholds. On 7 October 2026 every page was also tested in a web browser using only the keyboard (every link can be reached in order, with a visible focus indicator that is not hidden, and a link to skip to the main content) and at a width of 320 pixels, the equivalent of 400% zoom, where every page fits the window without scrolling sideways. This was not an independent audit, and the site has not yet been tested with screen readers or speech recognition software.
